Winsome Lynnwood Drop Leaf High Table | I spent my childhood years in a, mid-western town. I still an obvious memory of our family dinners. When dinner was done we would all take our dishes towards the sink and my mom would work with a dish cloth and soap and water to wash off our old wooden kitchen table. Did you see and copy that habit from the childhood? What I did not understand at the time was which our table had been refinished with heavy-duty polyurethane which means this habit did not get a new wood finish greatly. I just accepted wiping the table using a wet cloth because way to do things.
Did you will know if you use water to completely clean your commercially manufactured wood table the water will destroy it? Manufactured tables are most often coated with lacquer. This material allows water to get in the protective surface on the wood. The water may cause warping, checking and delamination. In addition to ruining your table, damage from water will void your warranty.
There are few options when repairing the damaged surface. If it is minor damage it could be possible to re-lacquer the table. It is more likely that this table would need to be refinished. Also, when the table is delaminating it will need a new veneer surface and also being refinished. This type of work could be a very heavy cost option.
